Attorney Paul Skrabanek
As a true-blooded Texan, Attorney Paul Skrabanek attended both high school and college in the Houston, TX area. After graduating from a Tomball high school, he attended the University of Houston where he graduated cum laude with not one, but two different degrees – a Bachelor of Science in both Physic and Political Science. During his time there, he was also inducted into a physics honor society known as the Sigma Pi Sigma.
He did not enter straight into law school after graduation. Instead, he spent two years in the political realm where he gained experienced running political campaigns that included a Houston City Council race, as well as a U.S. Congressional race. He was also involved in a ballot initiative in his hometown of Houston. During this time, he continued to gain interest in law and enrolled in the South Texas College of Law. There, he was a member of several different organizations and associations, such as the South Texas Law Review and the Order of the Lytae – he was also a Langdell Scholar in Torts.
After graduating with high honors in 2007, Paul immediately came to work for Arnold & Itkin LLP. He now spends his time taking on challenging cases and has been involved in verdicts that range in multi-million dollar resolutions. He strongly believes in constantly challenging himself and never backs down from a fight. Clients can rest assured knowing that he will be there to protect their legal rights. $4.9 Million Won for Victim of Arm and Back Injuries The legal team of Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin and Paul Skrabanek recently worked together to obtain a $4.9 million verdict from a unanimous jury after a week and a half trial. The plaintiff was injured while working off the Brazilian coast when he sustained serious injuries to his left arm and back. Arnold & Itkin, LLP is proud to have been able to represent this man in his effort to get fair compensation to help obtain medical treatment. The case was pending in the 157th District Court in Harris County, Texas.
Daughter Receives $4.8 Million Jury Verdict
A daughter who had recently lost her father worked with the legal team of Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Paul Skrabanek from Arnold & Itkin LLP in seeking financial compensation. The attorneys were able to prove negligence that attributed to the fatal injuries suffered by the victim. After only four hours of deliberation, the jury returned with a verdict of $4.8 million on behalf of the daughter.
$4,000,000 Settlement Recovered for Victim of Texas Plant Explosion
A Mississippi man sustained severe injuries while working at a Texas refinery plant during an explosion. Having been required to have surgery in order to repair his broken arm and herniated disk in the lower back, he realized that workers' compensation benefits were not enough to help him. With the legal help of Arnold & Itkin LLP attorneys Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek, and Kyle Findley, the Defendant was able to settle his case for $4,000,000 as a result of his injuries. The case was filed in Houston, Texas.
$3.3 Million for Injured Offshore Rig Worker A senior official of the offshore rig Thunderhorse was injured because of negligence. Pumping quick seal was left in the rig’s tank by a previous supervisor, causing an accident that resulted in the client losing the ability to walk. With the help of Arnold & Itkin attorneys, he was able to obtain a $3.3 million settlement for the continued care of his injuries.

Victim of Neck & Back Injury Recovers $3.35 Million
While on the Gulf Coast, a client of Arnold & Itkin LLP suffered from serious neck and back injuries that could have been avoided had the proper care and caution been taken. Arnold & Itkin LLP took on the case and was able to obtain an out-of-court settlement the day before the trial, settling the case for $3.35 million.

Arnold & Itkin LLP Win $2.4 Million for Injured Worker An injured refinery worker sought the help of the Arnold & Itkin legal team after suffering third degree burns on almost a quarter of his body. The trial ended after a week when the jury voted in favor of the Plaintiff and agreed to give him $2.4 million. The injury occurred because the Plaintiff was using unsafe equipment so the case was brought against an engineering company. Attorney Paul Skrabanek also saw three of the seven witnesses to trial as well as call into question the expertise of one of the defense's important witnesses.

$2 Million Settlement for Injured Worker
The maritime attorneys at Arnold & Itkin LLP, Kurt Arnold, Kyle Findley and Paul Skrabanek, were able to win $2 million on behalf of their client. The plaintiff was a Jones Act seaman who was injured while working offshore. At the time of the accident, the man was employed on a vessel located off the Gulf of Mexico. He was a Jones Act worker in Cameron County, Texas. A superior ordered our client to move a heavy roll of gasket material, which is what led to the serious back injury. The injured seaman reported his injury to a superior, but nothing was done until a week later when the worker was finally able to receive the proper medical attention. Our client was advised by orthopedic doctors to undergo extensive treatments as well as surgery to repair the damages he sustained while working offshore.

Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek and Kyle Findley represented a crane operator from Dayton, TX who was injured in a refinery explosion. The operator suffered severe back injuries. The case was prosecuted in Houston, TX and was settled for $1,750,000.
$1.6 Million Won for Apartment Complex Owner The Plaintiff was a man who claimed that after a portion of his apartment was burned in a fire, the insurance company did not compensate him enough money to cover the cost of the damages. The day before the case would have proceeded to Harris County, it was settled for $1.6 million.

Arnold & Itkin Attorney Wins $1.5 Million for Injured Worker The client was a seaman who was struck in the face by a piece of equipment for offshore purposes. Attorney Paul Skrabanek of Arnold & Itkin LLP took 15 depositions on the case. After arguing a number of hearings on the case, it was settled for $1.5 million on behalf of the injured worker.

Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Paul Skrabanek from Arnold & Itkin filed a case in Houston, Texas on behalf of a business owner whose property was significantly damaged in an accident. When the plaintiff went to file an insurance claim, it was denied. The firm was able to prove that the insurance company in question had miscalculated the damages and therefore owed the client a substantial sum, which they paid before the case went to trial.
$1.2 Million Recovered in a Real Estate Claim The team at Arnold & Itkin took on a case for a business client and was able to obtain a large settlement of $1.2 million. The client they represented was seeking commercial real estate assets and through the hard work of Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Jason Itkin and Paul Skrabanek, they were able to gain a positive outcome.

$1.2 Million Settlement Won for Financial Advisor The plaintiff, a financial advisor, filed a claim of breach of contract and tort actions because he was not paid for a contractual fee. Attorney Paul Skrabanek of Arnold & Itkin LLP was able to take the key defense witness's deposition. The key witness was the owner of the defendant company.

Injured Worker Compensated $925,000 Arnold & Itkin LLP took on the case of an injured worker who was electrocuted by a piece of equipment he was working with and then fell into a hole while he was on the job. Attorney Paul Skrabanek took all six depositions and the briefing.
Workers Suffering from PTSD Receive Over $900,000 Settlement
Arnold & Itkin LLP took on a case in which two workers were injured in an explosion at the workplace. Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek, Kyle Findley and Caroline Montano were able to successfully procure $919,562.00 for the injured workers. Following the explosion, both of the clients suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and one of the clients sustained a lower back injury that will likely need surgery.
$900,000 Recovered for Injured Worker The maritime attorneys at Arnold & Itkin handled a claim for a worker who had been injured while on the job. During a foggy day he was being transferred in a personnel basket from the boat to the platform when the crane operator crashed the basket into the side rail of the boat, causing the plaintiff to fall from the basket to the deck of the boat below. The injuries he sustained as a result of the fall were substantial. Lawyers from the firm carried out his case with great skill, negotiating on his behalf to earn a $900,000 settlement for the damages he was inflicted with as a result of the fall.

Within one year of filing in the southern District of Texas, Houston Division the case was resolved with a $900,000 recovery on behalf of the client. Additionally, the Honorable Judge Gray Miller presided over the case.

Burn Victim Recovers $875,000 with Help of Arnold & Itkin Attorneys Kurt Arnold and Paul Skrabanek from Arnold & Itkin, LLP, along with Attorney Brad Wyly from the Wyly Law Firm recently represented a client who had sustained devastating burn injuries to his face, neck, head and body. These were severe and required that the victim obtain many surgeries and skin grafts to help correct the issue. The attorneys were eventually able to recover $875,000 on behalf of the client. The case had been pending in the 125th District Court in Harris County, TX before Judge Kyle Carter.

Electrician Harmed on Job Receives $800,000 The plaintiff in the case was an electrician working on a barge. At the time he was injured he was fixing a light fixture while standing on a ladder. The light fixture shocked him and he was sent backwards off of the ladder, sustaining injures to his leg, neck, back and head. The defendant claimed that if the plaintiff had been wearing the proper fall protection gear he would have been protected. The defendant also noted that they believed the injuries had been exaggerated. To cover his expenses for the injuries he was compensated with a settlement of $800,000, due to that quality representation of the attorneys from Arnold & Itkin.

Injured Worker Gets $750,000 for Injuries
A Louisiana man was injured while performing his job duties as an offshore engineer. He sought the help of attorneys Kurt Arnold and Paul Skrabanek of the firm to maximize his recovery. Through their persistent efforts, the man was able to be compensated after only about 12 months of $750,000.

Arnold & Itkin LLP attorneys Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek and Kyle Findley were able to successfully settle a case on behalf of their client, an injured commercial diver. The man injured his lower back while lifting his heavy diving equipment. The injuries that resulted necessitated lower back surgery. The firm was able to secure a $750,000.00 settlement on his behalf. Arnold & Itkin considers this a great victory, considering some preexisting lower back conditions that the diver had in addition to a history of relatively low wages.

Injured Jones Act Seaman Suit Settled for $700,000
Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek, and Kyle Findley with Arnold & Itkin, LLP are pleased to announce that they have successfully settled a lawsuit on behalf of an injured Jones Act seaman who was hurt on the job. As a result, their client will receive $700,000 in compensation for his injuries as well as an agreement from the defendant company that they will cover any associated medical costs including the surgery, under its maintenance and cure obligation. The seaman was injured when he slipped and fell aboard a research vessel. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was required to have lower back surgery in order to repair the damages. This case was pending in Harris County and settled one week before going to trial.
Injured Man Receives Settlement of $700,000 Arnold & Itkin lawyer Paul Skrabanek secured a $700,000 settlement for a client who was in an accident. The incident occurred in Orange County, Texas when the plaintiff became pinned against the median by a tractor trailer who had been carelessly changing lands. Despite the fact that the trucking company moved for summary judgment, the firm was able to argue to keep cause of action and punitive damages in play on behalf of their client.
$639,000 Won for Car Accident Victim Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Mike Pierce and Paul Skrabanek all helped to advocate for a woman who was involved in a car accident. The woman was traveling on the BELTWAY 8 in her new Avalon when she was hit by a Chevy going 60 miles per hour. The accident left her with cervical and upper thoracic injuries. With the help of the firm, she was able to walk away with a $639,000 verdict.

$600,000 Settlement Obtained for Neck Injury Victim
Attorneys Paul Skrabanek and Kurt Arnold from Arnold & Itkin LLP took on a case involving a victim who had sustained a serious neck injury relating to the negligence of the defendant. The case only involved one deposition and was able to be settled three months before the trial was slated to begin. Arnold & Itkin LLP negotiated a settlement of $600,000.

Victim in Truck Accident Wins $565,000 with Arnold & Itkin’s Help
Attorneys Kurt Arnold, Paul Skrabanek, and Kyle Findley at Arnold & Itkin LLP worked together to win a $565,000 settlement on behalf of a woman named Mary Berryman. Ms. Berryman was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler back in December of 2010, and suffered severe back pain. She was forced to undergo surgery and argued that she deserved reimbursement for her medical bills in addition to her pain and suffering. She claims that Jose Peralta, a truck driver at Scorpion Transport, ran a stop sign and crashed into her truck, causing her injuries. Scorpion Transport argued that Ms. Berryman's injuries were from a previous back issue. Doctor reports show that she suffered herniation in her lower back and neck in 2007. Despite these arguments, the team at Arnold & Itkin LLP was able to convincingly prove that Berryman deserved compensation. In a first mediation for the case, the mediator used a proposal that was rejected by both parties. At the second mediation hearing, Scorpion Transport agreed to pay in excess of the first proposal. Paul Skrabanek was the lead attorney on the case.

He was aboard a terminal 18 cargo vessel working in a dimly lit room when he fell ten feet, fracturing his skull and fingers. With the help of Arnold & Itkin, the man was able to receive a $550,000 settlement.

Injured Motorist Recovers $537,584 Arnold & Itkin represented a victim of a rear-end collision that occurred on the north side of Houston, TX. After a trial that spanned over a week, they were able to win a jury verdict of $537,584.
