In 2000, nearly 96,000 truck accidents resulted in non-fatal injuries for at least one person involved in the accident, resulting in 140,000 total people injured. By the year 2005, that number had decreased to 78,000 injury accidents with 114,000 people injured, even though there were over 400,000 more large trucks registered with the FMCSA.
